Your kidneys perform many functions to keep you healthy
Among the most important functions of the kidneys are:
Cleaning of your blood by removing wastes and excess water from it.
Controlling the proper blood balance (homeostasis) of minerals (such as sodium, calcium, phosphorus, potassium and many more).
Production of hormones that help to control blood pressure, bone density and to produce red blood cells (erythropoetin).
