1. Proteinuria (protein loss)

Proteinuria is a term describing the leaking of proteins into the urine.
This happens when the glomerulus is damaged.

   
If the filtration barrier is compromised, larger molecules (mostly large proteins) are no longer retained in the plasma and will end up in the urine.
   
Causes for this type of damage are: inherited diseases, high blood pressure, filtration of toxic substances.
